Sarah Armstrong visits St Patrick’s Cullyhanna
4th Jun 2026
We were delighted to have Sarah Armstrong visit our school this week. She is just home from climbing Mount Everest, the world’s highest mountain. She is the third person from Armagh to stand on the highest point on Earth.
She has climbed now five out of the seven summits and hopes to climb the other two and make history as the youngest Irish woman to do it. She spoke to the children about the challenges of climbing and the scary obstacles like avalanches and deep cracks in the ice, which make the climb extremely difficult. She showed them lots of pictures of the five summits she has already climbed. Sarah answered lots of questions as the children were in awe of her incredible achievement.
Mr Quinn presented her with a donation towards her a very worthy chairty Evora to recognize Sarah’s remarkable achievement.
