P5 December News

21st Dec 2022

It has been a very busy month. First, we started with Advent. We made Advent promises – one for school and one for home. We tried to think of things that we could do to be kind, in order to prepare ourselves for Christmas and celebrating the birth of Jesus.

We completed Winter scene pictures using different chalks. Then we made funny, colourful reindeer and elf pictures. Finally, we made our creative Christmas Hats, which we wore to our Christmas Dinner. Music played loudly in the dinner hall and Mr Quinn sang Jingle Bells with us, on the microphone.

Next, we had Bernie Muckian visit our school to read us some pages from her new book – My Grandad has Alz-Eye-Murs. It was exciting to hear from a real-life author. Bernie read pages of her book with great excitement and enthusiasm.  We were all eager to see what was going to happen next.

Finally, we became “stars” once we completed our Christmas Show in front of parents, family and friends. We were delighted to be able to perform in front of an audience, for the first time since Covid! We said a poem, played a Christmas tune on the tin whistle and sang songs. Then we completed our Santa Run (Daily Mile) outside in the yard.

We wish you all a Happy and Peaceful Christmas and New Year.
