P.2/P.3 April News

1st May 2025

This month in literacy we had lots of fun learning about rhyming words.  We played rhyming games and read lots of funny rhyming stories.  We read the story ‘Stop telling fibs’ and identified the rhyming words in the story.  The little boy in the story had a goat in his coat, a kitten in his mitten and even skunks in his swimming trunks!  We sequenced The Three Little Pigs story and we wrote sentences to match pictures from the story. Our favourite story was The Three Little Wolves and The Big Bad Pig.  The Big Bad Pig was so bad that he used a sledgehammer to break down the little wolf’s house! We loved pretending to be the big bad pig! We used this story as inspiration to plan and write our own stories.  This was lots of fun!

In numeracy we started our time topic and we worked hard to learn how to read o’clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to times.  We really enjoyed making different times on our own clocks.  We stared to look at digital times and we can read o’clock and half past digital times.

In our world around us lessons we turned into builders and used a range of materials to build different types of homes.  We designed and planned a picture of what we would build if we could make our own dream house.  We also started our new topic called Minibeasts.  We know that minibeasts live all over the world and that they do not have a backbone.  We worked together create a beautiful display about the different types of Minibeasts.
