P2 January 2026

2nd Feb 2026

In Primary two this month we were learning all about winter and birds. We were outside discovering how to write our names in the frost.  We read the story of The Snowman and completed pictures of the story using chalk and black paper for display.  We also read the story of Jonty Gentoo which introduced us to our new topic Birds.  We have made Robin masks, binoculars and bird snappers in our play.  We also used different shapes to make our own Jonty Gentoo for display too.  We have been feeding the birds from the breadcrumbs left over from breakfast club and we are looing forward in February to taking part in the Big Schools Bird Watch.

In Maths we have been using numicom and cuisennaire to continue to learn our partitioning, composition and addition of our number bonds.  We have looked at time (o'clock and half past) and also looking at 2/3 criteria to find 2D shapes as well as capacity.

Primary 2 are also learning about all the people who help us in our community (police, paramedics, fire fighters etc).  We explored the importance of the clothing they wear, the vechiles they drive and the use of their sirens.
