P2 February News 2023

1st Mar 2023

This month like all months in P2 have been a very busy month.  We celebrated St Brigid's Day and made crosses out of rushes.  On pancake Tuesday we enjoyed flipping our pancakes and eating them with our favourite topping and on Valentines Day we made Valentine Cards.  We have been busy with afterschool Lego Club and have really enjoyed building different models every week.  This term in PE Karl from KMAC Coaching has been focusing on gymnastics which we have really enjoyed using the mats, ropes and bars.

But the most important news we have to tell you is that P2 have been learning about Birds as their topic this month and we have taken part in the 'Big School's Bird Watch'.  This is an initiative to help children learn and recognise birds and then they go outside and count the birds that they can see. These results are sent away and then the RSPB will inform the school later in the year which was the most popular bird seen in schools over the United Kingdom.

The children that attend the breakfast club have taken down the left over bread down to the P2 outside bird feeders and the P2 children with their binoculars have been able to watch the birds.  P2 have also made bird snappers, bird masks, bird feeders from oranges and bird seed. They then were able to hand their bird feeders out in the school grounds and bird watch.  A thoroughly enjoyable topic!!
