October News

25th Oct 2021

The children in primary 5 have continued to work very hard throughout October.  They have been learning how to round to the nearest 10/100/1000 in numeracy as well as looking at 2D shapes.

They thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘Street Child’ in literacy, all about Jim Jarvis and Dr Barnardo.  They created some excellent character descriptions of Dr Barnardo. Take a look. We are now reading ‘Street Child’ as our class novel at the children’s request as they are so keen to find out more.

We created some spooktacular Halloween scenes, each individual and creative, as well as some lovely Halloween cats also.  The children enjoyed their fire safety talk this week with David Rushe from Crossmaglen Fire station.

Here is some of our pupils thoughts on school in October:

Gracie Toner- “I really enjoyed all the Halloween art this month this month. I liked rounding in numeracy. I love going out for the daily mile walk everyday.  I’m really enjoying Street Child too.

Daire Donaghy- I liked 3 digit rounding in numeracy.  I loved street child story and making a character profile on Dr Barnardo.  I really enjoy Mathletics and daily mile.
