October in Primary 3
Primary Three have been busy bees this term, diving into exciting learning across all areas of the curriculum!
Numeracy Fun
We’ve been exploring numbers in lots of different ways! The children have learned how to partition numbers into tens and ones, count in 2s, and discovered that addition is commutative — which means the order of numbers doesn’t change the answer! During Maths Week, we had a blast playing games with Primary Five and going on a number scavenger hunt around the school. We’ve also been using number lines to help us add and even solved a magical potion problem for a witch using our problem-solving skills!
Literacy Learning
In Literacy, we’ve been learning all about fiction and non-fiction books. We explored the purpose of non-fiction texts and even wrote our own fact pages! We’ve been working on identifying nouns and enjoyed reading the poem Five Little Pumpkins. The children also wrote fantastic acrostic poems for Cullyhanna and Halloween — such creative writers!
World Around Us
Our topic this term has been Autumn. We’ve been learning about autumn clothes and how Halloween is celebrated around the world. It’s been fascinating to see the different traditions and customs!
PDMU (Personal Development and Mutual Understanding)
We’ve been learning how to be kind and cooperative classmates. The children have explored how to make good choices and how to be a good friend. These are such important life skills, and we’re proud of how thoughtful and caring our class has been.
Special Celebrations
We had lots of fun making bracelets for Cullyhanna Day and dressing up in spooky costumes for Halloween. What a fantastic way to celebrate together!
Well done, Primary Three! You’ve worked so hard and had so much fun — we can’t wait to see what exciting learning comes next! 🌟
