November in Primary 6
During the month of November, we celebrated All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day. We made a colourful display in memory of our loved ones that have passed away. We created fact files and printed pictures of different Saints which were displayed. We will continue to pray to the Saints that are special to us.
We kick started Anti-Bullying week with ‘Odd Socks Day’ which shows our uniqueness and that we are all different. We participated in an online Anti- Bullying workshop with Carlos from HiP Psychology. It was interactive and engaging through its songs, videos and Kahoot Quiz. We created posters for our Anti-Bullying competition on the theme ‘Power is Good.’ Well done to Fianna and Ciara whose posters were chosen as the winners from P6. In Literacy we created ‘Bullying’ poems: some rhymed, had alliteration, a simile and some chose to write an acrostic poem. We wore something yellow to show our support for World Mental Health Day and donated to Young Minds Charity.
Amy from The Rural Health Partnership and Sarah, a dietician, visited every week to complete a Community Food Initiatives Programme with Safe Food. We talked about food within our community and healthy habits we can include in our daily lives. They served us a fruit platter with different fruits- they were delicious.
Primary 6 had a visit from Una Walsh. Una told about how the The Vikings arrived in Ireland and how they made their way to South Armagh. The pupils learned that the Vikings raided Killeavy monastery.
Well done to all our Pupils of the Week, those who met their Accelerated Reader target and those who received certificates in Mathletics. Huge Congratulations to Rosa who won first prize in the Newtownhamilton Credit Union Poster Competition.
