November in P7!
November has been a fantastic month for Primary 7 – packed with learning, creativity, and teamwork!
We started the month by leading an assembly on our school value Empathy. The class explained what empathy means and shared practical ways we can show kindness and understanding every day. “Empathy is about putting yourself in someone else’s shoes,” one pupil said during the assembly – and we’ve been practicing that ever since!
Anti-Bullying Week was another highlight. We joined a virtual workshop where we explored different types of bullying and worked through real-life scenarios. It really made us think about how we can make our school a safe and happy place for everyone.
This month, we embraced creativity and problem-solving in exciting ways! In Literacy, we became poets, starting with the classic poem The Highwayman before working collaboratively to craft our own narrative poems inspired by the short film The Alchemist’s Letter. The imagination and storytelling skills on display were incredible! Meanwhile, in Numeracy, we tackled challenging problem-solving activities, including a favourite—planning a camping trip using only clues. It was a fantastic exercise in teamwork, communication, and logical thinking.
We also welcomed Una Walsh, who shared fascinating stories and facts about An Gorta Mór (The Great Hunger) and its impact on our local area. We were captivated by the tale of The Hannah, a ship that left Warrenpoint on 3rd April 1849 but tragically sank after hitting ice. This linked perfectly with our World Around Us topic, The Famine, which we are really enjoying learning about.
November has been full of discovery and collaboration – and we can’t wait to see what December brings!
