November in P3/4

3rd Dec 2025
Wow, what a busy month we had in November!

We have been continuing our work on Micro:bits and loved creating and playing the 'dice' game with our partners.

In literacy we LOVED using dictionaries and thesaurus to explore definitions and synonyms.  We created shape poems and lots of interesting calligrams too.

In numeracy we had a new challenge in learning 'decomposition'.  We found it tricky at first, but used our rules to help us understand it better.  We also learned a rhyme to help us round numbers to the nearest ten.

Our topic of 'School Long Ago' came to an end and we celebrated it by doing 'Drill' for PE and playing some playground games from long ago, such as hopscotch, skipping and clapping rhymes.  We also had a special visit from Miss Anderson who transported us back to a classroom from long ago.  This was a VERY different experience and we are all very glad that we did not go to school a long time ago.  Although she was strict we did enjoy making candles and getting the opportunity to write on a slate.

Overall it was a great month in our class and we even had a little flurry of snow.  We got to go out to the back yard with Miss Donnelly's class at breaktime to explore it.  We enjoyed writing/drawing in it and using it to create a moat.
