This month was a busy period in P7. We explored the world of narrative poetry, studying the famous poem 'The Highwayman' by Alfred Noyes. Our focus was on the poet’s creative techniques, including similes, metaphors, personification, and his unusual rhyming pattern. Inspired by these ideas, we wrote our own narrative poems based on the thought-provoking short film, The Alchemist’s Letter. In Numeracy, we stepped into the world of finance and money, investigating practical ways to manage and spend budgets. These skills are essential for everyday life, and everyone enjoyed applying their problem-solving abilities to real-world scenarios. We were delighted to welcome local historian Una Walsh, who shared her knowledge about how The Famine impacted our local area. This was a powerful and eye-opening session that helped us connect with our community’s past.
