May in Primary 5
We have had a busy and exciting start to the month in our class!
At the beginning of the month, the Dairy Council visited our school, and we took part in a fun and informative health and fitness workshop. We learned lots about staying active and making healthy food choices. We also enjoyed attending the P7 Business Enterprise Day.
In Literacy, we wrote persuasive advertisements to encourage others to buy our new toy ideas. It was great fun and we were very creative.
In Maths, we explored 3D shapes by using nets to build our own models. This helped us to better understand how shapes are constructed.
To celebrate May as the Month of Mary, we created a May altar in our classroom, taking time to reflect and appreciate this special month. We added pictures and prayers to make the display lovely and bright.
In World Around Us, we began our new topic, Our Community. As part of this, we visited the Cardinal Ó Fiaich Centre, where Una Walsh told us all about our local townlands and important landmarks. We really enjoyed learning more about our local area.
In ICT, we started using the Scratch Jr app. We had great fun experimenting with different backgrounds and beginning to create our own simple animations.
Congratulations to Laoise in our class for becoming a Word Millionaire for the second time this year. Well done.
We are looking forward to more exciting learning in the weeks ahead!
