March in Primary 6

25th Mar 2026

March was a great month in Primary 6.  We celebrated World Book Day by dressing up as our favourite book characters.  Even Miss Cassidy dressed up as Paddington Bear! We created books on the legend of ‘King Arthur and the Stone’.  We shared our stories with the pupils in Primary 4.

Our Young Enterprise programme was excellent! We took part in the Our World project and learned all about why countries buy and sell, exporting and importing goods.  We even had the chance to manufacture shapes.  We had to raise capital to purchase goods and make some visits to the bank.  Some groups even received hefty fines!

To celebrate St. Patrick's Day we made shamrock people and decorated our shamrocks.  We learned lots of interesting facts about our patron saint.  We attended our annual Irish Mass where we sang and said the responses in Irish.  At the 'Green Day Assembly' we played an Irish tune (Kerry Polka) on the tin whistle and sang O̒ro̒, se̒ do bheatha ‘bhaile.  Some pupils took to the stage to sing this song solo at the Feis.  Well done to all our soloists.

In World Around Us we are enjoying our topic 'Rainforests' - we are enjoying researching all the different animals and plants that live there.  In our 'Climate Change' topic we have been learning about the effect that it has on our planet.

We participated in the World Maths Day competition on Mathletics.  This tested our mental maths skills in competition with schools all over the world.

Finally we would like to thank Miss Cassidy who has spent the last six weeks teaching us a range of exciting and interesting lessons and topics.  We will miss her bright and enthusiastic presence in P6.  We wish her lots of luck and happiness in the rest of her studies and teaching career.
