March in P.3
A Fantastic Month in Primary 3!
We’ve had a wonderful month in Primary Three, filled with exciting learning and creativity. We especially loved having Miss McGee with us. The children were very sad to say goodbye, but we are so grateful for all the hard work, kindness, and enthusiasm she brought to our classroom. Thank you, Miss McGee — Primary 3 will miss you!
Literacy
We enjoyed diving into storytelling this month.
The class read We’re Going on a Bear Hunt and even acted it out with great enthusiasm! We wrote our own versions of the story and explored the fun world of onomatopoeia. We also read Lila and the Secret of Rain. The children made thoughtful predictions about what the “secret” might be and created beautiful artwork and character descriptions of Lila. Their creativity really shone through!
Numeracy
In Numeracy, we explored the names and properties of 3D shapes, and the children loved getting hands-on with different activities.
We also played lots of games to help strengthen our understanding of numbers to 100 — learning through play is always a big hit in Primary 3!
- They measured sticks for the Little Pigs’ house using tens and units, working carefully to compare lengths.
- They weighed different materials to find out which was the heaviest and best suited for building.
- They discovered mysterious footprints outside the pigs’ houses and used excellent estimating and measuring skills to calculate the area of the footprints.
- Finally, they investigated which containers could hold the most water, in case the Three Little Pigs needed to fill up a pot quickly if the Big Bad Wolf returned!
The children loved linking their maths learning to familiar stories, and their problem‑solving skills really shone.
World Around Us
This topic was a big highlight!
We investigated different types of animal homes and the children created amazing models including bat caves, beehives, nests, and spider webs. We then moved on to exploring homes around the world. For a day, Primary 3 became a busy building site! The children built skyscrapers, mud huts, igloos, and tree houses before designing their very own dream homes. The children also learned about dangers that might be found in their homes. They became safety inspectors for the day and helped to identify hazards in different rooms of a house, showing great awareness and sensible thinking.
PDMU
In PDMU, we learned about growth and fixed mindsets. The children discussed how we can face challenges with confidence and keep trying, even when things feel tricky. We’re building resilience together and celebrating each other’s efforts every day.
It has truly been a brilliant month in Primary 3. We are so proud of all the hard work, creativity, and enthusiasm the children continue to show. Here’s to another great month of learning ahead! 🌈📚
