1st Apr 2026

Pupils have enjoyed taking part in a wide range of activities and projects across the curriculum.

As part of our Young Enterprise – Business Beginnings programme, the children have been working hard to develop their own products. They have been researching ideas, working out costs and getting everything ready for their special sale day coming up in May. There is already a real buzz of excitement as plans start to come together.

In numeracy, the class looked at budgeting and took part in a wide range of engaging problem‑solving activities. One of these challenges involved working out how many handshakes would take place if a group of six people met for lunch — a task that really encouraged logical thinking and careful reasoning. Alongside this, we explored square, cube and triangular numbers, helping the children to recognise number patterns and deepen their understanding of how these special numbers are formed. The pupils approached each activity with enthusiasm, showing great teamwork and resilience.

Another highlight this month was our work on journalism. The children learned how reporters separate fact from opinion and how to recognise bias in news stories. After discussing what makes information trustworthy, they used their new skills to plan, script and record their very own news reports. Their retellings of The Three Little Pigs were fantastic, and the pupils creativity and imagination were evident both in front of and behind the camera.
