June in Primary 6

23rd Jun 2026

A busy month in Primary 6 - inside and outside the classroom!  We enjoyed participating in Blitzes, Sports Day and our Counties Gaelic Tournament.  Well done to both the girls and boys in Galway who were the overall winners in each competition.  The excitement is building for next year when we will be the P7 captains.

We enjoyed taking part in the Miceal Murphy Annual Quiz and were delighted that Ciara and Katie were part of Team Doon, the winning team, who beat Team Errigal by one point! We thoroughly enjoyed the treats after which were provided by Friends of Cullyhanna School.

Some of us enjoyed an additional trip to Bushcraft in Forkhill for our continued commitment and dedication to the school choir.

We completed an excellent programme ‘Choices and Changes’ delivered to us by ‘Love for Life.’  It reminded us of our uniqueness, value and worth as well as highlighting the importance of thinking through decisions.

We had a visit from Seamus from Scoil Spreagtha to our P6 classroom.  He did some work with us about our feelings and emotions through Gaeilge.  We played the ‘Traitors’ game at the end to consolidate what we had learned.  It was great fun!

Arc21 visited our school to promote reduce, reuse and recycle messages.  We carried out an engaging practical activity involving upcycling materials.  We made ‘Aliens’ and raced them against each other to see how far they would travel.

We enjoyed learning all about ‘The Titanic.’  We researched information about the disaster, wrote newspaper articles, created a display in our classroom and drew symmetrical pictures of the great ship.

Well done to all who received pupil of the week, Accelerated Reader and Mathletics certificates throughout the month.

Have a lovely summer everyone.  Enjoy the rest and stay safe.
