June in Primary 6
A busy month in Primary 6 - inside and outside the classroom! We enjoyed participating in blitzes and our Gaelic and netball tournaments. The excitement is building for next year when we will be the P7 captains.
Break the Rules Day was a huge success – we had unhealthy snacks, lots of extra play and even soaked our teacher! We are incredibly thankful to our Primary 7 class of 2025 for their hard work and entrepreneurial spirit. Through their profits in Business Beginnings they funded us two Fun Days which brought us lots of laughter and unforgettable memories.
We enjoyed learning all about ‘The Titanic.’ We researched information about the disaster, created portholes showing the iceberg in the night sky and drew symmetrical pictures of the great ship. Conan made his own 3D model of The Titanic - I think you'll agree it’s quite the masterpiece!
In art we have been looking at the French painter Henri Rousseau. He was best known for his jungle fantasy pictures. While he never travelled outside of France, he drew inspiration from visiting botanical gardens. We created our own pictures of one of his most famous art pieces called ‘Tiger in a Tropical Storm.’ A tiger is preparing to pounce on its prey in the midst of a raging storm.
We also looked at the work of the Spanish painter Pablo Picasso. He is famous for inventing a form of art called Cubism. It shows objects and people from many angles at the same time. We created our own cubism portraits with lots of bright colours and unusual shapes.
Have a lovely summer everyone. Enjoy the rest and stay safe.
