January in Primary 3/4!
3rd Feb 2026
Wow! January was a particularly busy month for the boys and girls in Primary 3/4.
We had our trip to the Palace Stables in Armagh to learn more about our topic of 'World War II'. We got to become 'evacuees' for the day, see air raid shelter and even meet an American soldier who put us through our paces - it was LOTS of fun.
We really enjoyed the 'bring a toy to school day' as it gave us the opportunity to speak in front of our class.
There was lots of group and paired work that challenged us to solve problems and work co-operatively.
Our class also gave an assembly on our school value of 'honesty' to tell others about our focus for the month of January. We really enjoyed performing it for the school.
January also saw lots of visitors to our classroom. Una Walsh visited to tell us all about local 'Myths and Legends'. We really enjoyed her stories and lots of us were able to tell her some of the stories about Fionn Mac Cumhaill and the Brown Bull of Cooley.
Orla from 'Young Enterprise' also visited our class to teach us about 'Our Community'. We explored businesses that are in our local area and brainstormed a new business that we could include. We also learned about paying taxes and had to give Orla back (reluctantly) some money once we had been paid for our jobs. It was a brilliant workshop and we really enjoyed it.
We also celebrated 'Catholic Schools Week' and discussed how we can show love in our school and our community.
It has been a busy month of learning and fun in our classroom, with lots more still to come.
