January in Mr. Digney’s P7
January has been a busy and creative month in P7, filled with new learning, imagination and hands‑on experiences.
We spent a lot of time developing our creative writing skills, focusing especially on the “show don’t tell” technique. Pupils worked hard to bring their characters and scenes to life through vivid description, sensory detail and strong imagery.
In numeracy, we tackled a range of problem‑solving challenges, including algebra and radial symmetry. Pupils explored how to use letters and symbols to represent unknown values, and used patterns and shapes to understand how symmetry works in nature, art and design. There was plenty of discussion, collaboration, and creative thinking throughout.
We also marked St Brigid’s Day by making our own traditional St Brigid’s crosses. A huge thank you to Anne and Kathleen for facilitating this activity. The class thoroughly enjoyed learning about the tradition and creating something meaningful to take home.
