February in Primary 3/4
We know that February is the shortest month of the year, but this one seemed to whizz by.
We started off the month by using pipe-cleaners to make St. Brigid's crosses. Whilst it wasn't easy at first, we showed great determination and perseverance to get them finished and were so proud of our creations.
In numeracy we have worked lots on 3-digit numbers and enjoyed exploring symmetry. We particularly enjoyed using 'Symmetry Artist' online to create symmetrical drawings and working in pairs to find different symmetrical patterns.
In literacy we have been exploring speech marks in more detail and using them to improve our writing. We have also looked at instructions and are looking forward to writing our own instructions very soon.
In WAU we decided to spend some time looking at the 'Winter Games and Para Games'. Since they only happen every 4 years it was a great opportunity to learn about the host country, the sports involved and to try some of them out for ourselves in a very enjoyable PE circuit.
Although short, Feburary had lots of special events to celebrate, including Chinese New Year, Pancake Tuesday and Children's Mental Health Week. We made Chinese lanterns, enjoyed choosing Pancake toppings and creating a 'My Place Map' a town/village that had ALL of our favourite places/activities that make us happy.
