February in Primary 2

2nd Mar 2026

In Primary 2 this month, we have been exploring a variety of exciting topics across different subjects.

We welcomed the month in learning all about St Brigid and her importance. We also celebrated Pancake Tuesday, we made some delicious pancakes and created a class pictograms of our favorite toppings. We made our lenten promises on Ash Wednesday and we also received ashes from Canon Toner.

The children enjoyed making Valentine’s cards to take home and share with their family.

In Numeracy, the children have been working so hard on making 10, understanding capacity, using Venn diagrams, and telling the time.

For Literacy, we learned all about different garden birds. We had so much fun taking part in Big School’s Bird Watch. The children had the opportunity to go out with binoculars and clipboards and count all the different birds they saw. The children had so much fun being creative making birdhouses, binoculars, masks and bird snappers to bring the topic to life.

In World Around Us, we have been learning all about People Who Help us, with a special focus on firefighters and the protective clothing they wear and the vehicle they drive. We had so much fun working in pairs to make our very own fire engines! It was a great way to get creative while learning more about how firefighters work and stay safe.

It’s been a busy and fun filled term full of learning and creativity!
