Ann Murphy P7 Netball Blitz
Our Primary 7 girls had a fantastic day at the Ann Murphy Netball Blitz on Thursday 4th June, in Newry Sports Centre. They joined pupils from five other schools and enjoyed playing netball, learning new skills, and making lots of new friends.
We would like to say a big thank you to Niamh Boylan and Catriona Kennedy (née Murphy) for organising this special event in memory of their mammy, who previously taught in St Mary’s Primary School, Mullaghbawn. Ann’s love of netball was passed down through the years as she taught it to her pupils, and it was lovely to see that spirit continue at this event.
The girls were also delighted to receive drinks and treats provided by Ann Murphy’s family and goodie bags from Aoife from Newry Mourne and Down District Council. Meave Murray from Netball NI, who is also a valued member of our school’s Board of Governors was in attendance with Sarah Armstrong who recently reached the summit of Mount Everest. Both ladies previously played Netball for Northern Ireland.
Well done, girls — we are very proud of you! Maith sibh, a chailíní - táimid an-bhródúil asaibh!
